|Price history for The Silk Road Trade - Copper Turkish Greek Coffee Pot (IC Series)
This review focuses on the Turkish coffee pot from ‘The Silk Road Trade’. This brand’s coffee pots have done quite well in our tests in the past, so we have some high expectations.
Overall, we have to say we’re impressed by the build quality and non-conventional design of this coffee pot. It’s not the largest we’ve ever seen, but still has plenty of volume to get the job done.
The Quality & Durability of The Silk Road Trade Copper Turkish Coffee Pot
If you want a well-made Turkish coffee pot, this one fits the bill. The copper plate used here is thicker than on other pots, so you get a sturdy, flex-free design. We put it through the ringer in our stress tests, and it didn’t so much as budge, even under high heat.
The inner lining has been made from non-reactive tin. This is important, because some metals can leach toxins into your coffee. But rest assured that the tin used here is food-grade and quite durable.
Expecting a dishwasher-safe rating in these pots is wishful thinking, but we were still holding out hope. Not only is it not dishwasher safe, but user reports suggest that even enthusiastic scrubbing could ruin the finish. That’s the price you pay for an authentic handmade product.
The capacity on this pot is pretty good, though nothing that will serve an entire army. It’s a sizable pot, and comes in at just under 12 fl oz of volume.
In ‘cup’ terms, that’s about 5 demitasse cups, or a little bit less than 2 US cups. Still, even 5 demitasse cups is more than we are used to on most other coffee pots, positioning this pot squarely in the mid-range.
Design of The Silk Road Trade
The real standout feature of this coffee pot is its design. Usually, a cezve will have a traditional pot design. However, ‘The Silk Road Trade’ chose to break the mold and come up with something all their own.
In doing so, they produced a design that is unlike anything else. The whole pot is cylindrical in shape, with concave sides. In fact, this coffee pot doesn’t look unlike the antique goblets you might find in some ancient palace.
And the unusual design choices don’t stop there. Silk Road went with flat brass for the handle instead of wood. This gives the whole pot a more premium, hefty feel.
And if you’re concerned about getting burnt by the metal handle, don’t worry; brass does not conduct heat nearly as well as copper.
The gold color of the brass handle also plays well with the antique copper look of this pot and makes the whole thing look more upmarket. Of course, you can also get the pot in classic copper or a shiny silver that is sure to stand out.
But it’s not all aesthetics. The Silk Road Trade also made this coffee pot practical by fitting it with an integrated spout that helps you pour coffee without spilling any.
Another hammered alternative to this coffee pot is the CopperBull Antique Copper Turkish Coffee Pot, be sure to compare the two and see which one works best for you!
When it comes to the price, this pot isn’t the cheapest we’ve seen, nor is it the most expensive. In fact, it is priced pretty similarly to other mid-range coffee pots, but definitely leaning more towards the premium end of the spectrum.
If there’s one thing ‘The Silk Road Trade’ is known for, it’s being active on Amazon. As such, you can find the manufacturer answering a ton of customer questions and queries on this pot’s product page.
This type of customer support is what inspires confidence in a brand, and makes it easier for us to recommend their products.
There aren’t any additional features to speak of with this coffee pot. But then again, the awesome build quality and unique design language will be enough for a lot of people.
Other Things You Can Use The Silk Road Trade Copper Turkish Coffee Pot For
This is a generously proportioned coffee pot, so it could come in handy in the kitchen for a variety of tasks. Think boiling water, heating up milk, melting butter, and the like.
It’s also a great conversation starter, if placed in view of friends and family that visit your house. Or if you want, it can just be a nice decorative piece on your mantle or living room table.
Other customers were a bit more forgiving of this coffee pot’s shortcomings. Amazon gives this coffee pot 4.4 stars out of 5, with customers commending the manufacturer for their inspired approach to the design, as well as the quick response time for questions.
All said and done, our review of the Silk Road Trade copper Turkish coffee pot found that it is well-built and sports a cool design that you won’t see anywhere else.
It’s also reasonably priced, and the manufacturer stands behind their product every step of the way. And that’s the biggest compliment a coffee pot could possibly get.
At the same time, it also rewards the robust build, the unique design, and reasonable price.
