Sinbo Greek Turkish Electric Coffee Pot (SCM 2951) Review

This review will focus on Sinbo’s electric Greek coffee pot.  Sinbo is a Turkish manufacturer whom we’ve spoken highly of in the past. But does this particular offering live up to the hype? Well, it has all the makings of a great coffee pot, but there are some niggles here and there.

Quality & Durability

Sinbo hit it out of the park with the design and build quality of this electric coffee pot. It is made of high quality plastic, so you can expect it to hold up well to extreme heat. 

The inner lining is also certified food-grade, so there won’t be any leaching of potentially toxic chemicals in your coffee. 

Another benefit of this is that the whole pot is dishwasher safe. That said, we have heard complaints of the rubber seal becoming loose in dishwashers, so you might want to stick to washing the pot by hand.

Capacity

There is only one capacity available, and that too a paltry 0.4 liters. We’ve tested a number of larger pots, so the capacity of this one is a bit disappointing. You can only really get about one-and-a-half US cups worth of coffee. 

If you want to serve larger parties, it’ll have to be in small traditional Turkish coffee cups. 

Design

The design of this coffee pot is nothing special, but it’s definitely practical. 

The small proportions and detachable handle make it pretty compact and travel-friendly. That handle is heat-resistant, so you don’t have to worry about getting burnt when serving or brewing. An integrated spout ensures spill-free serving. 

The power button is located on the base, making it a lot easier to use. That base is black, while the rest of the ibrik sports a subtle beige color. Again, not the sexiest design in the world, but definitely practical. 

Price

We’d say the price of this pot is pretty reasonable. Electric coffee pots can run you a pretty penny, so it’s nice to see one that is priced so competitively. 

Sure, you do end up losing out on higher capacity, and a couple extra features, but that’s to be expected.

If you’re traveling and need something to boil water in, this compact electric coffee pot works well. That said, we would recommend against using it to boil any other liquid. 

We tried boiling milk, and found that doing so leaves an ugly brown residue in the pot that is really hard to clean out. 

And if you’re buying this as a gift for someone in the US, just know that it works at 120 volts, and a US adapter is included.

Amazon gives this pot 3.4 stars out of 5, based on 75 ratings. Customers commend the compact, travel-friendly design and the ease of use, though the lacking capacity is a bit of a sore point. 

Moreover, multiple reports complain about the rubber seals leaking when the pot is regularly cleaned in a dishwasher.
