This review focuses on the Caizen Coffee Turkish coffee pot. This pot is a departure from the usual pots we feature in every way possible. It is made of a less commonly used material, the design isn’t as traditional, and on top of all that, it’s one hell of a versatile pot.

Caizen Coffee has apparently taken a different approach when it comes to making Turkish coffee pots. Where most pots are usually made of thick copper, this one is made of high quality stainless steel. 

Stainless steel has a couple advantages over copper. First and foremost, it is less dense than copper, so your pot can have higher capacity without being heavier. 

Steel is also about 2.5 times stronger than copper, meaning it’s less susceptible to bending or getting damaged if you drop the pot. 

Copper is also more prone to discoloration and staining. On the other hand, stainless steel is so resistant to staining, that they put it in the name!

Besides that, stainless steel is also safer than copper in the sense that it does not give off any toxins and does not react with ingredients. Copper pots need to be outfitted with a non-reactive inner lining such as tin, whereas stainless steel does not. 

On the whole, we found this stainless steel ibrik to hold up better to abuse than its copper counterparts. 

This enhanced durability and safety also means that stainless steel coffee pots like this one are dishwasher safe, which is always a sore point for handmade copper pots. 

Capacity

You only get one capacity with this pot, but that capacity is a sizable 15 ounces. In our experience, similarly priced copper pots can only muster around half that volume. 

And if you plan on using this pot to serve coffee for your guests, 15 ounces is more than enough for 4 demitasse cups of traditional Turkish coffee.

Design

Most pots take a traditional approach to the design, mimicking the cookware of centuries past. Caizen Coffee definitely took some inspiration from those pots for their stainless steel offering, but also put a modern spin on it. 

The result is a pot that has all the proportions and silhouette of a traditional cezve, but with a sleeker, more industrial design that wouldn’t look out of place on the Space Shuttle. 

In fact, the design of this pot takes inspiration from Turkish, Greek, and even Arabic coffee pots.

You get a polished stainless steel exterior, while the inner surface is treated to a brushed finish. The juxtaposition of dull, brushed steel inside and glossy steel outside makes for an attractive look that should fit in well with the minimalist kitchens out there. 

In fact, ‘minimalist’ pretty much sums up what this pot is all about. It lacks the engraving and hand-carved patterns of traditional pots, opting for a sparse, modern aesthetic instead. 

Even the handle is just a thin piece of metal; this is bent into an oblong shape with plenty of ‘negative space’ between the two prongs to drive home the point that this pot is meant to be minimalist. 

The use of stainless also has some practical benefits that make it easier to make Turkish coffee.

Withstands High Temperatures

For one, the pot can withstand much higher temperatures than copper without deforming or getting damaged. So regardless of whether you like your coffee tepid or hotter than the surface of the Sun, this pot can take it!

And while you might think that the handle gets pretty hot, the manufacturer has applied some design wizardry that allows the handle to stay cool to the touch, no matter how hot the pot gets!

Another benefit is that you don’t need to be as careful when hand washing this pot. The tin lining of other pots is susceptible to getting scratched or scraped off. But because this one is solid steel, it can be cleaned as thoroughly as you want.

Caizen Coffee really surprised us with the price of this pot. The modern design and durable build would have fooled us into thinking that the price was dangerously close to $100 dollars. However, this pot actually undercuts most other pots we’ve reviewed, coming in at a cent shy of $25 bucks!

Additional Features

When it comes to additional features, this pot is about as sparse as it looks! 

It does offer you the freedom to use whatever stovetop you want. In fact, besides gas, electric, and ceramic stovetops, it can also be used over the open campfire. That said, Caizen Coffee do draw the line at induction stovetops, which is a bit of a shame.

And as much as we would have liked to get a spoon to go with this Turkish coffee maker, it makes sense why one wasn’t included. 

Most pots give you a wooden spoon so you don’t scratch the tin lining by using a metal spoon. But since there’s no chance of this pot getting scratched, you don’t need to use a wooden spoon.

What it lacks in additional features, it more than makes up for in terms of versatility. The high heat resistance of this pot means it can be used for various tasks around the kitchen, including boiling milk, melting butter, heating up honey, frothing lattes, making sauces and so much more!

Reviewing the Caizen Coffee Turkish coffee pot was a nice change of pace for us. This stainless steel coffee pot presents a unique package that fits equal parts practicality and aesthetics into its lightweight, yet highly durable, 235 gram build.

Sure, you don’t get any little knick knacks with it, and it doesn’t really work with induction stovetops.

But who needs wooden spoons when you have a pot that will outlast most of its buyers? And if lack of compatibility with stovetops is the tradeoff for a pot that can be used over an open flame while camping with friends, then there’s no complaints on our end!
